
BANGKOK, Thailand – A new agreement aims to enhance academic and cultural cooperation between Thailand and Spain through language and professional exchanges.
On April 23, 2025, Police General Permpoon Chidchob, Minister of Education, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on educational cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, and Sports of the Kingdom of Spain.
The signing was conducted alongside Abelardo de la Rosa Díaz, Spanish Deputy Minister of Education, Vocational Training, and Sports. Witnesses included Vosita Vorasaph, Ambassador of Thailand to Spain, Ambassador of Thailand to Madrid, Felipe de la Morena Casado, Ambassador of Spain to Thailand, and senior representatives from both sides.
The MoU is intended to promote and develop teaching and learning in Thai and Spanish languages and cultures in both countries. It also aims to foster mutual understanding and strong relations between their peoples, while supporting student engagement in multicultural and international learning experiences. Additionally, it opens opportunities for professional development and knowledge exchange among students, teachers, and education professionals.
On this occasion, Acting Sub Lt. Dr. Thanu Wongjinda, Secretary to the Office of the Basic Education Commission, held discussions with representatives from the Spanish Ministry of Education regarding strategies to promote Spanish language instruction in schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC). The goal is to elevate the quality of Spanish language education across Thailand in a more structured and sustainable manner. (NNT)
